I am Nick Rouse, Owner and Performance Specialist at Spartan Strength—a functional training performance gym.

Our philosophy here is simple, “Total body fitness can help individuals achieve true fitness for life.” Functional training is designed to improve total body strength, coordination, and overall fitness through movements that are common in daily activities. The unique equipment and workouts at Spartan Strength focus on multi-plane motion and full-body strength, while emphasizing the cardio-respiratory system. This dynamic program allows for better results in a shorter time.

My background is as a personal trainer and coach. I played football at Drake University where I developed a passion for coaching, as well as strength and conditioning. After coaching at Drake, I moved to Arizona where I began personal training. I’ve since worked in large corporate gyms in Phoenix, Arizona and Chicago, Illinois. I began my first independent training business in the western suburbs of Chicago. My wife and I decided to make the move back to my home state, Iowa, where I grew up on the farm learning the true meaning of hard work and discipline.
